Training with Compassion
The Capable Canine

Professional group and private dog training in Southern Maine.

At The Capable Canine our goal is empowerment. We aim to empower your dog to make choices that strengthen the human-animal bond. Our Facility uses clicker training and is 100% reward-based. Reward-based methods are scientifically proven and the most humane.

We are A 100% Reward-Based Dog Training Facility

At the Capable Canine, we only use reward-based training also known as positive reinforcement or clicker training.  Reward-based training is the most effective method used to train animals. We understand the value of quality education for our instructors and dive deep into education and science which sets us apart from other facilities. All our instructors must be certified through The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CDPT-KA). We are also proud members of The Pet Professional Guild, The Association of Force Free Trainers.

The Capable Canine is a progressive company and focuses on empowering animals to make choices that work for both humans and dogs alike. We DO NOT do traditional dog obedience in which animals are forced to comply due to fear, pain or other aversive stimuli.
