About The Capable Canine

Learn more about this small southern Maine dog training business.

At the Capable Canine we offer professional group and private dog training in Southern Maine. We firmly believe that the relationship between you and your dog is the most crucial element to developing trust and a life long bond.

If you do not have a relationship or you do things to damage the relationship between you and your dog, your dog will have a harder time trusting you. This is why we use clicker training/reward based training, which has proven to be the most effective form of dog training. The focus is not to wait until your dog does something wrong then punish her, instead we wait for her to do something right and reward her. We also work on teaching your dog something else to do that is a more appropriate behavior. To top it all off, using these types of techniques is fun for everyone!
