Length: 5 weeks Location: Arundel, ME
This class prepares students with four weeks of instruction to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. Week 5 will be the test. The American Kennel Club offers a certification open to all dogs (pure and mixed breed) to recognize the efforts of dog owners who have made a commitment to training. The Canine Good Citizen certificate is granted to those dogs who can perform all 10 of the items on the CGC test. All dogs that pass the CGC test can receive a certificate from the AKC. This class is also ideal for anyone with the goal of doing therapy work with their dog. You’ll learn what is required of a therapy team and become familiar with the certification process.
Important: This class has several prerequisites. All dogs must have completed a beginner class, Int. 1, Int. 2 and possibly Advanced training. Please do not sign up if you haven’t done any classes with your dog. If you have done classes at another facility contact us for the best place to start with your dog at The Capable Canine.
This class will help prepare teams for therapy work in the future. Therapy dogs are permitted to visit places such as nursing homes, schools and hospitals. Therapy work can be incredibly rewarding for both dogs and humans alike. Dogs will not be tested to become therapy dogs in this class. However, we will discuss the process and help assist teams along their journey.
All payments must be received prior to attending class.
Classes will occasionally be postponed due to holidays, illness or weather. If you are unable attend due to a postponement we will do our best to find another class for you to attend.
